May is a Special Month in the Catholic Church
The month of May is a time to revere and honor Mary as the mother of our Lord. On Sunday, May 3, our parish children participated in May Crowning at the 10:15 Mass to honor our Blessed Mother. As the mother of our Lord, she draws us close to Him through her loving care and intercession. She is the person who is closest to Jesus. We can ask her to help us draw closer to Jesus and to help us in our needs. Because Mary is our spiritual mother, we also honor her during this month when we honor all mothers on Mother’s Day.
On May 14, we observe the Ascension of our Lord into heaven. May 15 is the Feast of St. Isidore, the Patron of Farmers. We ask him to intercede for a good growing season for our farmers. The Easter season will come to a close on May 24 – Pentecost Sunday. Memorial Day is celebrated May 25. The month ends on May 31 with the feast of the Most Holy Trinity.
